Dwight Howard has hit several high notes in his young NBA career. The 24-year-old center can also hit high notes when singing.
With a personality bigger than his 6'11" frame, Howard has been known to joke around. And even though his debut album "Shoot for the Stars" is lighthearted, Howard is serious about his release.
With the help of record label Razor & Tie and the "Kidz Bop" kids, Howard's CD includes re-recordings of several popular NBA jams including "Whoomp There It Is" and "Let's Get It Started."
"This record is a dream come true for me in so many ways," Howard said in a news release. "Recording this album for me ranks with being the first pick in the NBA draft, my first NBA All-Star game and winning a gold medal at the Olympics. Razor & Tie and KIDZ BOP have been incredible and I hope everyone enjoys the album as much as I did recording it."
A portion of the proceeds will benefit the BETACenter, an Orlando-based charity that provides assistance for teen moms and other at-risk families.
The 11-track CD also features an original song titled "Shoot for the Stars," which encourages kids to chase their dreams. The CD will officially release on Oct. 26.
