The New York Giants plan on making their new stadium feel a little more like home Sunday night.
Playing in their third game at New Meadowlands Stadium, the Giants will unveil a “Ring of Honor” around the stadium at halftime of the team’s faceoff against the Chicago Bears on Football Night in America.
30 of the most influential figures in Giants history — including players, coaches, front office members, and owners — will be honored on the ring. Many of the honorees will be in attendance for the event.
The Giants have not released the complete list of those to be honored, but did acknowledge that former players Michael Strahan, Lawrence Taylor, Tiki Barber, Pete Golack and Frank Gifford will be among the 30.
So too will former coach Bill Parcells, who led the Giants to victories in Super Bowls XXI and XXV.
“To always have something up there that I can always look at or fans or family can always look at and say, ‘Boy, I was one of the storied players in this franchise,' that means the world,” Strahan said in a conference call about the ceremony. “It means all the work I put in really paid off and was appreciated. I'm extremely excited about it."
The Giants are off to a disappointing 1-2 start this season, but will look to change their luck against the undefeated Bears.
