Bruins defenseman Johnny Boychuk will miss approximately four weeks with a slight fracture of his left forearm, the team announced on Sunday.

Boychuk suffered the injury when Rangers winger Brandon Dubinsky slashed Boychuk’s arm during the first period of the Bruins’ 3-2 loss to New York on Saturday. He attempted to return to action but was unable to remain in the game and did not play in the second or third periods.

The 26-year-old defenseman had played in each of the Bruins’ first six games this season, netting three assists.

Boychuk signed a two-year extension with the Bruins this offseason.
