FOXBORO, Mass. — The Patriots will have some injuries to monitor after their big-time win against Baltimore on Sunday. Three Pats didn’t suit up after appearing on the injury report, and two more went down during the game.
Here's the Monday health checkup.
Wide receiver Julian Edelman left the game in the fourth quarter with a head injury, and his return was announced as questionable. However, Edelman didn't reappear. Edelman took a hard hit on the shadow of the goal line and dropped a pass as a result. He was spotted in the locker room after the game but didn't speak.
Safety Jarrad Page left the game in the third quarter with a left calf injury, and his return was announced as questionable. However, Page didn’t return, and he was spotted on the bench removing his cleat, sock and tape. So, it was pretty apparent he wouldn’t return, which at least indicates it will be a short-term issue.
Running back Fred Taylor did not play due to the toe injury he aggravated in Week 3 against the Bills. Taylor has hasn’t practiced since then, either. His timetable to return is unclear.
Safety James Sanders did not play due to a hamstring injury, but he was testing the leg Sunday on the field about three and a half hours before kickoff. Sanders was a full participant in last Wednesday's practice, but he was limited Thursday and Friday. This doesn’t appear to be anything serious.
Cornerback Terrence Wheatley did not play, and he was listed on the injury report with the same foot issue that has plagued him all season. However, Wheatley fully participated in every practice this week, and his absence from the 45-man roster might have had as much to do with his place on the depth chart as anything.
