Fans of the Cleveland Cavaliers now have even more reason to mark LeBron James as an enemy on the court.
In a report by ESPN on Thursday, James said he can relate with why his fans in Cleveland and his home state are upset with him moving on to the Miami Heat, but they have to move on and "get over it."
"If I was a fan and I was on the outside looking in, I could be upset a little bit if one of my favorite players left," James said. "Or if I felt like he betrayed us or whatever the case may be. But you have to get over it."
Later on Thursday, James tweeted that he wasn't speaking directly to Cavaliers' fans: "Let's clear this up! I never said to the Cavs fans to 'get over it.' I've never and will never say anything bad about them. 7 years of joy!"
James just keeps digging his hole deeper and deeper with his unnecessary comments that beg for constant attention.
With the Heat's preseason record at 2-4, James needs to close his mouth for once and show the NBA that his team is as good as they make themselves out to be. They need to let their performance on the court do the talking for them. So far, they have won their first two games and lost their last four, only one of which was a close-scoring game.
A player telling his former fans to "get over it" will not make his team or himself look any better, in fact it simply adds to the Heat’s public enemy status. But that seems to be what Miami wants anyway.
The only person that needs to get over something here is LeBron. And that thing he needs to get over –is himself.
