Panthers’ Dwayne Jarrett Arrested for DWI, His Second in Two Years

NFL wide receivers just can't stop driving drunk.

Following in the footsteps of fellow receivers Braylon Edwards, Vincent Jackson and Donte Stallworth — who all have received DWIs within the last couple of years — Panthers wideout Dwayne Jarrett has added to the peculiar trend with a second DWI of his own.

According to the Shelby Star, Jarrett was arrested around 2 a.m. Tuesday morning for impaired driving. He will likely be suspended by the league, as Jackson was forced to miss three games by Roger Goodell after his second offense.

Jarrett, a standout at USC, was drafted in 2007 by the Panthers, but has failed to live up to his potential.

He had a chance to make an impact this season opposite Steve Smith, and would have likely been a major part of the offense this coming week in the injured Smith's absence.

Still, Jarrett has just two catches for 40 yards this season, and has largely lost playing time to David Gettis, Brandon LaFell and Armanti Edwards.

It would not be surprising to see Jarrett, who is in the final year of his contract, be released by the team in light of the incident, impending suspension and poor performance.
