Patriots Render Brandon Marshall Ineffective With Array of Defensive Schemes All week long, the questionable Patriots pass defense was discussed, wondering how they were going to fair against newly acquired Dolphins receiver Brandon Marshall.

Well, the New England defense came out and threw the kitchen sink at Marshall, limiting his touches and made his presence virtually unknown as he had just five catches for 50 yards.

"The Patriots threw every single part of their playbook out there tonight," NESN.com Patriots beat writer Jeff Howe said on NESN Daily. "He wasn't the driving part of the offense as I expected him to be … They put a cornerback or a safety over the top, they doubled him, they bracketed him, they blitzed guys away from him. They did everything at him as opposed to some of the vanilla things that they've done to other receievers like Braylon Edwards."
