When the Red Sox unveiled the latest and greatest plan to improve Fenway Park, some fans cringed while hoping for the best regarding ticket prices.
Red Sox Nation can now breathe a sigh of relief.
The Red Sox have announced the prices for the 2011 season, and they feature only a modest increase across the board. Average prices will increase only two percent, with a majority of ticket prices remaining very reasonable.
The two percent increase represents the lowest percentage increase over the past 16 seasons, with the exception of the freeze for the 2009 season.
The majority (63 percent) of tickets will be $55 or less. Bleacher seats will remain $12.
There will be a slight increase in three categories in the prime infield area. Field Box, Loge Box and Infield Grandstand prices will each increase $5, $4 and $3, respectively. Not all seats in these sections will go up, though. More than 4,700 seats in these sections will stay the same price as last year.
There's also good news for die-hard fans planning on making the trip to 2011 spring training, as well. Tickets for those games will remain the same price as last year. This marks the fifth time in six years, spring training ticket prices did not increase.
