What looked like a pretty picture in the recent blockbuster hit The Blind Side has turned into a heated debate at a high school down in Florida.
Bill Buldini is a teacher of social studies and the football coach at St. Cloud High School in St. Cloud, Florida, near Orlando. The school recently reported to the Florida High School Athletic Association (FHSAA) that Mr. Buldini allowed a homeless player from his team to move in to his house.
Although he was suspended from coaching just last week, he was allowed to continue teaching and coaching on Monday since the Osceola County School District said he did not break any district rules.
St. Cloud High School administration may not be on coach Buldini’s side but it seems the students are.
"If you need a home, if you get kicked out, then you should have a home to stay [at]," student Kristi Lakin told wftv.com. “You shouldn't be left on the streets."
Another student named Melanie Hernandez stated "I don't really see much wrong with that, maybe they're just thinking too hard into it because if he has nowhere else to go, someone needs to give him help."
The FHSAA rule that is now in question states "No school employee, athletic department staff member or representative of the school's athletic interests may be involved, directly or indirectly, in promising, offering free or reduced-cost rent for housing."
