According to TMZ, Seau was arrested on domestic violence charges at 2 a.m. on Monday morning. He was booked at the Vista Detention Facility and released at approximately 3:20 a.m..
Just hours thereafter, Seau drove his SUV off a cliff in Carlsbad, Calif. He has suffered injuries, but has survived and been transported to a local hospital, according to the report.
It is unclear whether or not the two incidents are directly related.
Seau played for the Patriots from 2006-09 at the end of his 20-year career in the NFL.
