Junior Seau's white Cadillac Escalade took a 30-foot tumble off a cliff near Interstate 5 in Carlsbad, Calif. a little before 9 a.m. this morning. Miraculously, he was nearly totally unharmed, escaping only with with cuts and bruises.
He did, though, get taken to Scripps La Jolla hospital after the incident, according to SportsByBrooks.
The details surrounding the crash are particularly notable.
One witness said that Seau made no attempt to slow down from 70 MPH as he drove off the cliff.
Prior to the crash, Seau had been released from the Vista Detention Facility shortly after 3:20 a.m. after posting bail for felony spousal abuse charges.
Seau and his live-in girlfriend reportedly had a verbal argument at approximately 10 p.m. on Sunday before Seau assaulted her, causing mild injuries. He left the premises before the police arrived, but he returned shortly after midnight and was arrested without incident, according to TMZ.
