On Oct. 31, Roush Fenway will look to add to their history with another successful race at Talladega or Hallo-dega, as some prefer to call it.
The first time the Roush Fenway took the green flag on Halloween was in 1993 at the Phoenix International Raceway where No. 6 driver, Mark Martin led for 212 laps giving him the victory.
The Sprint Cup took some time off from the spooky holiday until 2004, when the No.6 car saw similar success as the '93 race, leading the pack for 227 laps in Atlanta. That year, however, the team came up a few laps short of the win.
Carl Edwards, a rookie at the time, finished third while Greg Biffle finished 10th, giving Roush Fenway three cars in the top ten.
Roush Fenway has led 454 laps in Sprint Cup races on Halloween.
In 2005, Edwards won on the eve of Halloween, joined by teammates Martin and Matt Kenseth in the top five. This race was one of the most successful days in Roush Fenway history. Biffle took seventh place to give the organization four cars in the top seven.
Last season, Roush Fenway driver Jamie McMurray and the No. 26 team won at Talladega on the day after Halloween. Biffle finished fourth, providing further proof that just as the leaves start falling from the trees, Roush Fenway’s cars start heating up and letting off steam.
Roush Fenway hopes to pick up where it left off in 2004, with the circuit rolling into Talladega Superspeedway this Sunday, Halloween.
