The Royal Bank of Scotland has obtained an interim injunction against Tom Hicks and George Gillett Jr., preventing them from firing three executives, The Associated Press reports.

The injunction comes a day before the Liverpool co-owners face the London High Court, where RBS will be trying to force them to sell the team to New England Sports Ventures.

RBS, owners of much of Liverpool's debt, is claiming breach of contract for Hicks' and Gillett's firing of chairman Martin Broughton, managing director Christian Purslow and commercial director Ian Ayre. Hicks and Gillett agreed to putting Broughton in charge of selling the team, according to the report.

The RBS released a statement Monday, saying it is "unable to provide any visibility on timing for resolution of these proceedings at this stage."
