While Shaquille O'Neal may have the energy of a guy in his 20's, his body still reacts like the 38-year-old seasoned NBA veteran that he is.

Celtics head coach Doc Rivers announced on Monday that Shaq will sit out during Tuesday's preseason game against Philadelphia, WEEI.com reports. Rivers also mentioned that several other players may be getting a rest as well, as the Celtics embark upon a four-game, five-day road trip.

The move is likely precautionary, considering Shaq has experienced some soreness in his hip. He told reporters after Sunday night's victory over the Raptors that he has arthritis. Rivers has said that it's not realistic to expect Shaq to play all 82 games this season due to his age and size.

Despite the limited play in the preseason, Shaq is still averaging nine points per game for Boston.
