The Omaha Nighthawks have caught the eye of UFL commissioner Michael Huyghue.
Specifically, the commissioner has noticed the Nighthawks' record of having the best attendance in the league, selling out both of their home games so far this season.
Huyghue used Omaha's attendance rate as one reason why the UFL will be holding this season's championship game at Rosenblatt Stadium, and why the UFL will be looking more closely at Midwestern cities as they continue to expand the league.
The commissioner mentioned cities such as Des Moines, Iowa, and Wichita, Kansas, as possible expansion cities, due to the market size and the fact that those cities already have venues that could hold UFL games.
"Omaha has redefined the long-range vision of the UFL," commissioner Huyghue said. "It's given us greater insight into where we belong."
The Nighthawks became a franchise in April but have quickly risen in popularity. Their sold-out home opener against the Hartford Colonials in September was the first sellout in UFL history.
