Top 10 Reasons Boston Will Always Love Mike Lowell Boston sports fans are passionate — so much so that they’ll debate each other ’til the cows come home. Superstars can turn to bums in the short span of a three-game series, and managers can never make the right decisions.

They all, however, can agree on one thing: Mike Lowell is the man.

That much is a given nowadays, but when he came to Boston, he was considered by most to just be a throw-in to the Josh Beckett deal. Since that trade, though, Lowell played with the type of heart and ability that is appreciated in Boston. He’s also had the demeanor that creates folk legends.

Fans at Fenway Park on Saturday night will be able to say goodbye to Lowell, as the Sox will be holding “Thanks, Mike Night” before the Red Sox-Yankees game. While his time on the field is coming to an end this weekend, he’ll forever be a legend in Red Sox lore.
