Will Patriots Fans Be Disappointed If Brett Favre Doesn't Play Sunday? Everyone’s favorite gunslinger is heading to Foxboro this weekend, but it’s unknown whether Brett Favre will be taking snaps for the Vikings.

In fact, given that Favre has a couple of ankle fractures and given that he loves keeping people in suspense, we likely won’t know until 4:15 p.m. on Sunday afternoon.

But if No. 4 doesn’t line up under center against the Patriots, will the fans be disappointed?

The answer depends on a lot of things.

There are some paying customers who might like to see the future Hall of Famer play in New England for likely the last time in his long NFL career. It’s not every week that you have a chance to see a living legend.

There is another subset of fans — and likely a larger one — that would take tremendous pleasure in booing Favre with all their hearts. Favre’s gained more enemies than fans over the past few seasons with his offseason drama, and his more recent scandal only adds to that. Favre is just a lot easier to boo than Tarvaris Jackson.

There would be yet another reason that fans would like to see Favre suit up, and their reasoning would be 100 percent based on football. The quarterback has been, quite simply, bad this season. He’s thrown 10 interceptions in six games, essentially losing games to the Jets and Packers on picks returned for touchdowns. He’s yet to throw for 300 yards in a game and he’s become somewhat of a liability for the Vikings.

In fact, head coach Brad Childress entertained thoughts of benching the quarterback last Sunday in Green Bay based on his poor play.

It sounds a bit crazy, but Jackson may give the Vikings a better chance to win games at this point in time.

Of course, with Favre, you can never count him out.

“I wanna play,” he said at his Wednesday news conference. “And I wanna help this team win.”

It’s debatable whether the last part could be accomplished with Favre on the field, but are you hoping he’s on the Gillette turf on Sunday?
