Dallas Cowboys head coach Wade Phillips did not arrive at the team’s practice facility as he was scheduled to on Monday, according to ESPN.

Speculation has begun about the possibility of Phillips being fired, after his team was pounded by the Green Bay Packers Sunday night in a 45-7 loss.

Jerry Jones, owner and general manager of the team, stressed Sunday night that he will be doing a thorough evaluation of the organization to figure out how to solve the team’s problems.

“There are a lot of people here who are certainly going to suffer and suffer consequences,” Jones said. “I’m talking about within the team, players, coaches, who have got careers. This is certainly a setback. I know first hand what it is to have high expectations.”

Dallas has dropped their last five games and is currently 1-7 this season.

Cowboys linebacker Keith Brooking has defended Phillips, saying that he doesn’t believe the coach should or will be fired.

“Wade is going to keep fighting,” Brooking said. “We’re not going to lose him. I have so much respect for Wade, the man, [and] that he is the coach, the success that he’s had in this league.”
