Dennis and Callahan Ponder How Donovan McNabb Contract Reports Went So Awry Donovan McNabb was initially reported on Monday to be receiving an extension worth $78 million, including $40 million guaranteed.

By Tuesday morning, the number was changed to $3.5 million guaranteed, and that figure has been disputed by McNabb's camp on Wednesday.

Gerry Callahan had an idea of how that news got out a day after the contract story broke.

"[Redskins owner Dan Snyder] doesn't mind looking like he's a big spender and he'll do anything to win," Callahan said. "But when you're getting your [butt] handed to you by Michael Vick and the team that traded Donovan McNabb to you, and McNabb is struggling, it doesn't look good to say [you're paying him] $78 million."
