Dustin Pedroia Says Rehab Is Ahead of Schedule, Looks to Be '100 Percent' for Spring Training While the Red Sox may look to make a splash this offseason, some of their biggest “additions” may come from within.

After a 2010 season riddled by injuries, a healthy roster may be the team’s biggest upgrade, and arguably no return will be more important than second baseman Dustin Pedroia.

Speaking on WEEI’s The Big Show on Wednesday, the former MVP said that he’s ahead of schedule in his rehab of a broken foot that forced Pedroia to the DL which was followed by a failed attempt to return, marking the end of his season.

“Last week I got a CT scan on my foot and it’s healing better than scheduled,” Pedroia said. “I’ve been out of the boot for a week now and I’m progressing and doing a lot more weight-bearing. I feel great. I’m right on track to start my offseason workouts and be 100 percent for spring training.”

Being ready for his offseason workouts is something Pedroia says is very important in being able to continue to be the player he is, even with his well-documented lack of size.

“I gotta make sure that I’m able to hold up for 185 games [including playoffs],” he said. “The offseason is my time to build up as much strength and endurance to keep up with the guys who are more physically gifted than I am.”
