Rajon Rondo One of Five Celtics Players Nominated for 2011 NBA All-Star Game

The NBA All-Star Game ballot was released Friday and five Celtics players have a chance to represent the green and white at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, Calif.

Celtics fans will have the opportunity to vote for Ray Allen, Kevin Garnett, Shaquille O’Neal, Paul Pierce and Rajon Rondo to play in the 60th All-Star Game on Feb. 20, 2011.

Allen, Garnett, O’Neal and Pierce have all participated in past All-Star games. O’Neal leads the team with 15 All-Star appearances. Garnett has been sent to the midseason event 14 times and was the 2003 All-Star MVP, while Allen and Pierce have made 10 and nine appearances, respectively.

At the 2010 All-Star Game, Pierce became the first member of the Celtics since Larry Bird to win the 3-point contest.

Fans will be able to vote through NBA.com, Facebook, paper ballots, mail-in ballots that can be printed online and through text messaging.

Winners will be announced on Jan. 27, 2011 during the TNT pregame show for the Miami Heat matchup with the New York Knicks.

This will be the second All-Star game held at the Staples Center and the fifth time the exhibition game will take place in Los Angeles.
