It will be a very exciting Thanksgiving for former Minuteman Jeromy Miles.
The Cincinnati Bengals announced on Wednesday that the former UMass All-American safety has been promoted to their active roster after spending the entire season on the practice squad. Miles will be eligible to play in the Thanksgiving night matchup against the Jets.
This will be Miles' first appearance in the regular season for the Bengals, but the safety saw five appearances with the team during the preseason. He recorded six tackles during that time.
Miles moved up to the active roster after the Bengals waived defensive end Victor Adeyanju, who signed with the team as a free agent last week.
The free safety earned a multitude of awards while playing with the Minutemen. During his senior season, Miles was named a 2009 Walter Camp First Team All-American, 2009 CAA All-Conference First Team, and 2009 New England Writer All-Star. He tied for fourth on the team in tackles with 62 in his final year at UMass while recording two interceptions, two fumbles forced and five passes defended.
Miles will face a former UMass teammate in the Thanksgiving night matchup, as safety James Ihedigbo plays for the Jets. Jets rookie offensive lineman Vladimir Ducasse also played at UMass, but is inactive for Thursday's game.
