FOXBORO, Mass. — Patriots running back Fred Taylor is hoping for a little help from the man upstairs.

Taylor said he wasn’t sure about whether or not he’d return to the field Sunday against the Colts, but after practicing for two weeks, he knows he’s at least got a shot.

“We’ll see how it goes,” Taylor said Friday. “I’m just going to sit back, hit my knees, say a little prayer, and hopefully it can sway coach [Bill Belichick] to want to take a shot with me for Sunday. But I’ll be patient. Whatever is best for the team, I’m all about that.”

Taylor has missed six consecutive games since suffering ligament and joint damage to a toe on his left foot. He thinks, despite being limited for each of the last six sessions, he’s put in some good practice time.

“I thought I showed some glimpses last week where I could have mixed it up in certain situations,” Taylor said. “The same this week, but it’s not my call. We’ll see. We’ll just wait on Sunday and see. I don’t want to go one way or the other with this. I had a pretty solid week, and we’ll see how it goes.”
