How Many Triple-Doubles Will Rajon Rondo Record This Season? The term triple-double just continues to become more and more synonymous with Celtics point guard Rajon Rondo.

In fact, even Rondo is starting to outdo himself. He put up the stat line of the year of the young season on Friday night when he torched the Knicks for a triple-double in which he scored 10 points, grabbed 10 rebounds and dished an incredible 24 assists.

As ESPN.com points out, Rondo tied an NBA record for most assists in a triple-double. He tied another pretty good point guard, Isiah Thomas, who accomplished the feat in 1985, but needed two overtime periods to do so.

Every time he takes the floor Rondo is capable of filling up the stat sheet much like he did on Friday night in Boston. It seems he does it more often than not, so it might be surprising to some that the young point guard only has five career triple-doubles.

But, as he continues to develop and as long as he continues to get to play with the all-world talent he has around him, one would expect that number to continue to grow.

The NBA record for triple-doubles in a season belongs to Oscar Robertson, who had 41 in 1961-62. While it’s highly unlikely that Rondo will catch Robertson, it’s not unlikely that Rondo will post a new career-high in triple-doubles.

The question is, though, how many triple-doubles will he record this season?
