The Las Vegas Locos are going back to the UFL Championship Game.

The Locos’ 5-1 record can only be matched by the Omaha Nighthawks (3-2) and Florida Tuskers (2-3), but those two teams play each other twice, meaning that only one of those teams could potentially earn as many wins as Las Vegas.

The Hartford Colonials and Sacramento Mountain Lions are both 2-4.

“We feel very fortunate to be on top and earn our right to be in the Championship Game,” said Locos coach Jim Fassel. “We still have two games to play and I want to continue to improve our team so we’re ready to play our best in the Championship Game.”

All other teams are still mathematically eligible to face the Locos in the championship. The Nighthawks are the closest, with three games left to play and only two wins needed. The Tuskers need three wins to qualify.

The Locos won the 2009 UFL Championship Game, beating the Tuskers 20-17 on a field goal in overtime.
