Mets clubhouse manager Charlie Samuels is out.

Samuels was suspended by the Mets while he is under investigation by the NYPD for betting on baseball and for stealing money and equipment from the team, according to the New York Daily News.

The investigation has shown that Samuels may have written checks with Mets accounts to pay personal bills. He supposedly repaid the loans a few weeks later, but it is unclear whether he repaid the entire amount.

Samuels may also have taken team equipment, including balls, bats and jerseys, and, as the team’s traveling secretary, skimmed money on player hotel rooms.

The longtime clubhouse manager was suspended by the team on Oct. 27, and is believed to have told MLB officials that he bet on baseball games. MLB has declined to comment, but Daily News sources said that the league is conducting its own investigation.

Samuels has been with the Mets since 1976, becoming clubhouse manager in 1983. He was with the team during the 1986 World Series-winning season and the team’s 2000 NL Pennant win.
