For baseball nerds, there aren’t many better times of the year than the hot stove season, a season that was unofficially kicked off by this week’s GM meetings in Florida.
The general managers of the 30 teams met in Florida to discuss issues in baseball, but it’s the wheeling and dealing between GMs that gets all of the attention.
A few noteworthy transactions were made — Dan Uggla and John Buck were argubly the two biggest names on the move — but the GM meetings also plant the seeds for later moves. Fellow GMs discuss trades with each other, while chatting up the agents of some of the game’s biggest free agents.
