New England Sports Ventures announced on Thursday that they are starting the global search for the next CEO of Liverpool FC.

NESV appointed Global executive search firm Spencer Stuart to aid in their recruitment of a new CEO, who will be replacing Christian Purlow who left the position last month. Spencer Stuart consultant Jonathan Smith, who specializes in sports business, will lead the search.

According to the report by Liverpoolfc.tv, NESV is looking for a business leader with experience and an 'active interest in football.' The search is expected to start immediately, and NESV Principal Owner John Henry and Chairman Tom Werner are hoping to have the search process completed by the new year.

While Spencer Stuart will help provide the candidates qualified for the position, Henry and Werner will have the final say in the CEO appointment.
