Even after picking up one of the biggest free agents of the offseason in Amar’e Stoudemire, the New York Knicks have floundered to begin the season, going 3-6 thus far. And while rumors have circulated about Carmelo Anthony’s desire to be traded to New York, are the Knicks after a different star?

The Knicks are said to be making “an inquiry” regarding the possibility of getting Steve Nash from the Phoenix Suns, according to the New York Daily News.

Knicks coach Mike D’Antoni has a close relationship with Nash from the days when D’Antoni coached the Suns.

"If you can do something to make the team better, you do it," Knicks president Donnie Walsh said on Saturday, not explicitly referring to a potential Steve Nash trade. "That's pretty obvious. But in the meantime, you've got to play games, you've got to play the right way, you've got to get better and that's where we are."

While it’s still only a rumor that the Suns might be interested in trading Nash, the Knicks likely won’t let the chance of getting another possible future Hall of Famer to the Big Apple slip away.
