FOXBORO, Mass. — Peyton Manning's legacy has left a massive impact on everyone who has played football for the University of Tennessee over the last decade. But it's magnified exponentially for the Volunteers' quarterbacks.

Patriots rookie practice-squad quarterback Jonathan Crompton felt the benefits of playing for the same program as Manning. The program's all-time leading passer used to return to Tennessee each summer to throw with the quarterbacks, so Crompton would get an up-close-and-personal session with Manning.

"Everybody respects what Peyton did for Tennessee, but I guess that goes along with being who he is," said Crompton, who has worked as Manning this week on the Patriots' scout team. "Obviously, everybody loves him and respects him. It was a good time while I played there and got to hear about all of the things that he did, so that was good. He's a legend there, and he always will be."
