Jake Ingram's recent inconsistencies have cost him his job.

The Patriots second-year long snapper was released Tuesday, according to agent Wynn Silberman, after Ingram struggled over the last month.

In a related move, the Patriots signed long snapper Matt Katula, according to a source and his agency's Twitter account. Katula, who signed a two-year deal with the Patriots, was with the Ravens from 2005-10.

Ingram, a laid-back guy from Hawaii, was flawless during his rookie season, but he had a hiccup against the Dolphins before struggling mightily against the Chargers. He also had a poor snap on a punt in Cleveland, and head coach Bill Belichick decided to move in a different direction.
