Rajon Rondo had a game for the ages at the TD Garden on Friday night, and apparently the league has taken notice as the Celtics' point guard was named Eastern Conference Player of the Week on Monday.
Rondo turned in a triple-double Friday against the Knicks, threatening Bob Cousy's all-time Celtics record of 28 assists in a single game. His final stat line was 10 points, 10 rebounds and a career-high 24 dimes.
Through three games this season, Rondo is averaging 10.7 points, 6.3 rebounds, 16.7 assists and 2.0 steals per contest for the Celtics.
Rondo won the Eastern Conference honor, while the Lakers' Pau Gasol was named the top player out West for the opening week of 2010-11.
