There’s no one who doesn’t think Adrian Beltre will get a ton of money this winter when the free agent signs, especially consdering his agent is Scott Boras. That’s why the latest team rumored to be interested in signing him may come as a surprise.

The small-market Oakland Athletics are reportedly interested in trying to sign Beltre this winter, according to ESPNDeporte’s Enrique Rojas via MLBTraderumors.com.

The A’s reportedly offered Beltre a three-year, $24 million deal last offseason before he decided to sign with the Red Sox. With Boston, Beltre hit .321 with 28 home runs and 102 RBIs and is expected to earn a bit more than $8 million per season in his next contract.

Rojas also vaguely hinted at the fact that the Tampa Bay Rays may be interested in revisiting pursuing catcher Victor Martinez, whom they tried to acquire at the 2009 trade deadline before the backstop was dealt to the Red Sox for Justin Masterson and minor league prospect.
