Karina Smirnoff, along with partner Mike "The Situation" Sorrentino, was recently eliminated from Dancing With the Stars. Brad Penny spent the better part of his season the 2010 baseball season on the disabled list.

The long-time couple decided it was time for some good news, and the two are now engaged, People Magazine reports.

The couple began dating in 2009 after mutual friend Chuck Liddell introduced them. She had previously been engaged to fellow DWTS partner Maksim Chmerkovskiy, and Penny had previously been in a relationship with actress Eliza Dushku.

The engagement actually went down on October 4, but the couple kept it under wraps.

"We went to this restaurant and [my manager] got on her phone and said 'this guy is killing me,' and got up and walked away, Then Brad walked in and it still didn't register. He got down on one knee and he opened the box and I said, 'Thank you'. I honestly didn't expect it," said Smirnoff.

"I'm marrying a Southern Gentleman," she said.

Penny will be a free agent this offseason.
