Chad Henne has only lost to the Jets, Patriots, Ravens and Steelers this season as the Miami Dolphins' starting quarterback. That, apparently, was too many losses to keep his job.
According to the Palm Beach Post, Tony Sparano has replaced Henne with veteran Chad Pennington heading into Sunday's game against the Tennessee Titans.
Henne has posted a 78 QB rating thus far in 2010, including more interceptions (10) than touchdowns (eight). Still, his play has been far from terrible, and most considered his job — and status as Miami's quarterback of the future — safe.
He will be replaced by the 33-year-old Pennington, who has been known for his accuracy, lack of arm strength and penchant for injuries throughout his career. Pennington started three games for the team in 2009 before Henne became the starter. In that stint, he threw one touchdown and two interceptions for just 413 in those contests.
He was, however, won Comeback Player of the Year twice in his career, 2006 and 2008. If that pattern continues, he would be due to win it again this season.
