There were rumblings that Ibrahim Afellay would sign with Liverpool this winter, but the Dutch midfielder is likely heading to FC Barcelona instead.
A deal has been made in principle for Barca to purchase Afellay's contract from his current team, PSV Eindhoven, for an undisclosed amount, according to Sky Sports. Afellay would report to Spain in January, assuming the deal is completed.
"There is certainly no final agreement," Afellay's agent, Rob Jansen, told Sports Promotion's official website. "When the time comes we will notify the media and the fans through our website."
