Report: Liverpool to Enter Potential Keisuke Honda Bidding War With AC Milan

Keisuke Honda has made quite a name for himself in 2010. Upon his transfer to CSKA Moscow, he scored a set piece in his debut in a UEFA Champions League match against Sevilla — securing advancement for the Army men. In the World Cup, he became the face of Japanese soccer, scoring twice in South Africa — once as a game winner against Cameroon and again from a set piece against Denmark. He's made such a huge impression that he seems likely to find his way at an even larger club such as Liverpool.

Honda is about as useful of a player as one can have in a squad. He can play anywhere in midfield, or even as a second striker, and he is, of course, one of the world's very best free kick takers. According to Russian sources, he would cost approximately $15 million (9 million pounds), but that number may be run up in a bidding war, as he is being considered both by Liverpool and by AC Milan.

While South Korea's Park Ji-Sung and Lee Chung-Yong have become fixtures in the Premier League, few players from Asia's other countries have been able to make significant impacts. Honda, perhaps, could alter that trend at Anfield.
