The Red Sox have reportedly hinted at being comfortable with bringing catcher Jason Varitek back for 2011 as their backup, but it looks like they already have some initial competition.
According to CSNNE's Maureen Mullen, the Philadelphia Phillies have expressed interest in signing the free-agent catcher as a backup.
