The Red Sox sure seem to be preparing to move on at the catcher position.

According to ESPN.com's Gordon Edes, the Red Sox are seriously interested in the possiblity of signing catcher John Buck.

Adding Buck would give the Red Sox catching stability in the case that catchers Victor Martinez and Jason Varitek, both free agents, sign elsewhere. Jarrod Saltalamacchia is the only major league catcher the Red Sox have under contract as of now.

Buck hit .281 with 20 home runs and 66 RBIs in 2010 for the Blue Jays. He's a .243 lifetime hitter and was an All-Star this past season for the Blue Jays.

According to the report, the Red Sox are also expecting the Tigers to make a "strong push" for Buck's services.
