The Red Sox want third baseman Adrian Beltre back, and who wouldn’t?

However the team isn’t going to offer him anything longer than a four-year deal, reports the Boston Globe.

One of the offseason’s most-coveted free agents, Beltre will be making big bucks wherever he signs thanks to a career-saving campaign with the Sox in 2010.

A major league source told the Globe’s Nick Cafardo that the Sox will go no more than four years, $52 million for the Scott Boras client, and that they appear to be on the same type of path with Victor Martinez.

Beltre hit .321 with 28 homers and 102 RBIs this past summer after hitting just eight homers and driving in 44 RBIs with the Mariners in 2009.
