The NFL has become the league where everybody gets fined for just playing football, and the NBA is now the association in which everybody gets fined for opening their mouth — that's just the 2010 we live in.

Bobcats guard Stephen Jackson was fined $50,000 by the NBA for "verbally abusing" referees following Friday night's Auburn Hills homecoming loss to the Pistons, according to Marc Spears.

Both Jackson and coach Larry Brown received technical fouls for arguing calls during the game.

The enigmatic Jackson has had a productive season thus far, averaging 17 points, four assists, and four rebounds per game thus far for Charlotte.

Given the Roger Goodell-esque crackdown on talking in the NBA, expect many more fines like this to come as the season goes on.
