Titans coach Jeff Fisher hinted at the fact that quarterback Vince Young's 2010 season may be over following a thumb injury in Sunday's loss to the Redskins. On Monday, Fisher and the Titans confirmed that fear.

According to ESPN's Adam Schefter and NFL Network's Jason La Canfora via Twitter, the Titans have placed the quarterback on injured reserve after finding out that he will indeed need to undergo season-ending surgery on the injured thumb.

Fisher said on Monday that rookie Rusty Smith will be the starter until Kerry Collins gets healthy. He also announced that team is bringing in Chris Simms to be the No. 2 quarterback for the time being.
