What Grade Would You Give Bruins for Their Play in October? It’s no secret that Bruins fans are happy with the way the team has started the season.

The Bruins have won six out of eight games, Tim Thomas has posted three shutouts, and rookies Tyler Seguin and Jordan Caron have performed well as newbies within the Bruins’ system.

The B’s have played against some of the best players in the league and have still come out on top. They’ve defeated Alex Ovechkin and the Capitals not once, but twice, outscoring the team 7-2.

Thomas has won all six of his starts, posting league-leading stats in goals-against average, save percentage and shutouts.

In just eight games, Nathan Horton has become a fan favorite, leading the team in points with nine (five goals and four assists). And Horton has shown his physical side too, fighting Dion Phaneuf in their win against Toronto last Thursday.

Not everything is perfect, though. We haven’t seen Tuukka Rask perform up to the level he was at last season, but Rask has only played two games and it’s still very early in the year.

The Bruins’ power-play unit could also use some work. Head coach Claude Julien has been putting extra emphasis on the power play in practice, which couldn’t come at a better time considering the Sabres — who are Wednesday night’s opponent — rank 27th in the league in penalty kills.

After a shocking end to the season in May, the team has come out swinging in October and already has fans and experts alike talking about Stanley Cup contention. So how would you rate the B’s in their first month of NHL action?
