The Patriots’ offense wasn’t perfect, but Tom Brady and company were good enough to pull off their sixth win of the season on Sunday at Gillette.
While future Hall of Famers Brett Favre and Randy Moss stole most of the headlines entering the affair, former undrafted rookie BenJarvus Green-Ellis and Brady (a former sixth-rounder, in case you forgot), led the way in this one.
Brady wasn’t his best, but he managed to complete 16-of-27 attempts for 240 yards and a touchdown. Helping Brady in the backfield was Green-Ellis, who posted 112 yards and a pair of rushing touchdowns on 17 carries. The back broke the 100-yard rushing plateau for the first time this season. He also added an 11-yard reception.
Danny Woodhead was once again a reliable option for the Pats attack. Although notching just 58 total yards (45 rushing), Woody found pay dirt for the third time this season and picked up a crucial first down in the final quarter when he busted through the Vikings defense for a 16-yard gain on third-and-12. That first down led to Green-Ellis’ second TD and gave the Pats the 28-18 lead.
Leading the receivers this weekend was Brandon Tate, who had three receptions for 101 yards. The UNC product’s 65-yard scoring strike in the third quarter gave the Pats their first lead of the game.
