BOSTON — Boston College has extended the contract of football coach Frank Spaziani by two years through the 2015 season. His team recovered from a 2-5 start to finish 7-5 and qualify for a bowl game for the 12th consecutive season.

Athletic director Gene DeFilippo said in a statement that Spaziani is a man of "uncompromised integrity and principle" who has the program headed in the right direction.

Spaziani is 16-10 in two seasons. The Eagles play No. 13 Nevada in the Kraft Fight Hunger Bowl in San Francisco on Jan. 9.

Spaziani was an assistant for the Eagles for 12 years before his hiring by Boston College in 2009. He says he is "very appreciative" of the extension.
