Brett Favre’s Consecutive Games Streak Potentially Saved by Deflation of Metrodome Roof

The survival of Brett Favre's consecutive starts streak must be considered destiny at this point.

After limping on to the field half-dead after days of speculation over and over again this season, it appeared that Favre's streak had come to an end after he was knocked out of last week's game with an injury to his throwing shoulder on his first pass attempt.

He couldn't even throw a ball at the team's Saturday walkthrough, and texted Ed Werder that if the game were to have kicked off as scheduled on Sunday, he wouldn't have been able to play. It didn't.

A once-in-a-decade winter storm hit, and the Metrodome roof began to leak. The game was accordingly postponed to Monday, giving Favre an extra day of rest.

Monday, however, still may be too soon for start No. 298, but Favre was in luck again.

The postponement proved to be a wise one, as on Sunday morning, the Metrodome was found to have a deflated roof, after the old dome suffered a collapse under 16 inches of snowfall.

The dome, which normally features an inflated bubble roof, has been described as looking like a "bowl of sugar."

No injuries from the deflation have been reported.
