Carl Crawford’s Fit in Boston Could Be Diminishing After Adrian Gonzalez Deal

Carl Crawford's Fit in Boston Could Be Diminishing After Adrian Gonzalez Deal Carl Crawford will make an impact no matter where he ends up, but according to a few MLB insiders in Florida, he may not be the perfect choice for the Red Sox anymore.

It’s certain that Crawford could pack a dynamic punch in the Red Sox’ lineup, but with the recent signing of left-handed first baseman Adrian Gonzalez, Crawford may not be the top choice for Theo Epstein.’s Tony Lee asked a few MLB reporters about Crawford’s fit in Boston, and while all three agreed he would succeed at Fenway, he may not be the right player to pursue after signing a left-handed slugger in Gonzalez.

“I think they want a right-handed hitter after signing Adrian,” said the Boston Globe’s Nick Cafardo. “I think he [Crawford] fits a little bit less than what he would have fit had they not signed Adrian … Hard to say no to a guy like that if the price is right but I really don’t think he’ll be a Red Sox.”
