Bruins coach Claude Julien can certainly attest to that, as the club's latest skid has once again brought out calls from fans and pundits for him to be removed from the position. And Julien is certainly aware of the mounting criticism.
"I hear what is going out there, but certainly not listening or reading because that's not a helpful thing for me," said Julien after Wednesday's practice at Ristuccia Arena. "All you can do is keep going forward."
Julien insists he won't let any outside criticism alter his approach behind the bench.
"I don't let that get to me," said Julien, whose team has just one win in its last five games. "I'm going to coach the same way and I'm going to do what I do the best that I can. It's as simple as that. It is what it is. Honestly, I just go out there and [Tuesday and Wednesday], I was very positive with the players and doing my job just as I would any other day.
"That's the way it goes," added Julien. "That's the nature of the beast, and we all know that as coaches. It comes around every once in a while."
Julien did receive a vote of confidence from general manager Peter Chiarelli in a Tuesday morning radio appearance, and was grateful for the support from his boss.
"You always appreciate support," said Julien. "I think that's important, but right now my job is to coach this hockey club. Whatever is being said out there, that's out of my control. I come in every day with the same intentions, and that's to coach this hockey club and make this team as successful as I can."
