Cliff Lee Decision to Play in Philadelphia Clearly Based on Team Preference, Not Money

Red Sox and Philadelphia fans alike are celebrating an early Christmas as Cliff Lee made his decision to join the Phillies' rotation on Monday night.

It was clear that the decision was influenced by team preference rather than money, as Lee left two years and $35 million on the table by turning down the Yankees offer.

Lee's decision didn't surprise NESN Insider Peter Gammons one bit. Knowing Lee's personality, Gammons said Philadelphia seems to suit him better than the New York environment.
