Derek Jeter, Brian Cashman Share Awkward Moments As New Deal Announced for Yankees Icon By now, we all know Brian Cashman is a spunky guy, always dressing like an elf and rappelling down buildings and whatnot. That doesn't mean, however, that Derek Jeter's all that happy to see him.

The face of the Yankees — looking a little doughier than usual, no? — was welcomed back to the team with a three-year, $48 million contract with an option for a fourth year, and he was formally introduced Tuesday in Tampa, Fla. Jeter was no doubt happy to still be a Yankee, but he was miffed that negotiations became public.

After all, if you were a 36-year-old, rapidly aging shortstop well past the prime of your career, wouldn't you be a little ticked off when it leaks that you asked for a five-year deal and more than $100 million?

Fortunately for Jeets and the Yanks, they were able to work out their differences. Still, it doesn't look like Jeter and the spunky Cashman are BFFs.
